Happy spooky season my ghoulish friends!
My favorite time of year and hopefully yours too. To kick things off, I thought I would bring you three Authors that YOU should be reading for spooky season.
First up is a lovely gentleman by the name of Dave Jeffery. Some of you may already know Dave from his A Quiet Apocalypse book series. If you haven’t had a chance to read this series, you can check it out here.
Dave is also well known for his Beatrice Beechan’s series. He’s written several creature features such as, Tooth & Claw, Frostbite, and Frostbite book 2.
Dave is a great author to read if you enjoy Apocalyptic horror or YA Horror series. He is also an accomplished screenwriter and has been featured in Phantasmagoria Magazine.
Next is New York Times best-selling Author Alma Katsu. Alma Has written titles such as The Hunger (One of my personal favorites), The Fervor, and The Deep. Aside from these amazing Horror novels, she is also known for her spy books.
The Hunger is a Supernatural Suspense about the Donner Party. The group of travelers set out on a wagon train trip along western terrain and begin to disappear. Murder, madness, and other chaos quickly follows, and the travelers soon begin to wonder if there isn’t something evil following them. You can read more about The Hunger and her other books here.
Author number three is one you probably already know from Netflix, Grady Hendrix. If you haven’t read (or watched) My Best Friend’s Exorcism, then you are definitely missing out. This book, (also another favorite) is amazing. It touches my little eighties heart.
The only way I know how to describe this novel is Retro-Religious Horror. If you love all things eighties and you love books about exorcisms or demonic possessions, this is the book for you. There is plenty of Horror and humor woven into this campy eighties throwback. A super fun read for the younger and older crowd alike.
You can also check out Grady’s other works like How to Sell a Haunted House, Final Girls Support Group, and The Southern Book Club’s Guide to Slaying Vampires here. All of these should be on your Halloween TBR list.
I hope you’ve found some new reading materials for spooky season. For more Horror content or to discover even more awesome Authors you can subscribe to my blog or to my newsletter at www.patriciastover.com
Happy Reading
